Staycation fun

A few weeks ago, S and I decided to take advantage of the fact that we live in New Jersey and head off the big city for a little "staycation." It was wonderful--not much packing, not much traveling, and an exciting destination!

S and I stayed at a fancy Sheraton in Times Square:

I know this photo is SO dark and grainy, but I love it anyway--it looks as happy as I felt.

At night, we headed out to a delicious steak place, La Marais, for dinner--and the highlight was that I ate some dessert AND my blood sugar levels were fine! An exciting development in the life of a diabetic:) We then went to this funky theater in Midtown to see Million Dollar Quartet--S's pick, but I actually really liked it!

We topped off the night with some drinks at the bar (virgin over here):

And menorah lighting (which makes me realize, this was really more than a few weeks ago. Oops!).

The next day, we got off to a late start and then headed to brunch.

We rounded off the day with a Trader Joe's stop (I *love* that store. Although next time I go, I want to buy all of the English toffee bars I can see!)

So that was our staycation--probably the last babymoon before bunny arrives. Speaking of which, my due date is THREE weeks away. Eek!

Tell me--what is YOUR idea of a perfect staycation?

Note--giveaway winners posted below. Jenny, please email me by Sunday or I'll have to pick a new winner!

  1. You look so beautiful. I hope that you are feeling as well as you look!!

So glad that you guys enjoyed your time together. It is just so strange to know that couplehood really does change when parenthood begins.

My idea of a perfect staycation involves several massages, a lot of reading, and unlimited sleeping.

    B'shaah tovah!!!

And I have to say that I have learned, even after baby comes, make sure you have a few of those Staycations every once in a while.
They are good for everyone :)

  10. I love staycations too! I love to travel, but sometimes it's nice to be a tourist in your own city and have a more relaxed vacation. Baby is coming soon!! Very exciting!! (I think I've stayed in that hotel - recognize the rug! :) )

  15. My DH and I go about an hour away to a B&B that has converted railroad cabooses and catch the local beer festival and sit in our rom and play computer games (we are total geeks)...well, we did a little hiking too! LOL! Ever since our first baby, we have tried to get at least one date night a month, and one overnight alone a year. Good luck waiting on bunny! Thanks for the peek at your staycation! -Amanda

  16. perfect staycation - hmm, I don't think I really have one, since we live in the middle of no where. There is a themed hotel about 45 minutes away that I think would be hilarious to stay in but Ryan vetoed that idea. It creeps him out.

  17. My staycation was significantly less exciting than yours :) No big apple for us here at the mini apple area :) I went to the YMCA everyday, that has to count right? :)
