The Major Scraproom Reorganization of 2011!

As I mentioned earlier, about a month ago I did a HUGE reorganization of my scrappy stuff. Things were not good in the 'ol scraproom--I would literally dread going into a certain bin because it was such a mess. I had just about all of my embellishments in two little bins, and needless to say, it wasn't cutting it.

So without further ado.........

my "brand new" scraproom:

I changed the way I organize many of supplies. In the past month, I have been pretty much loving the changes I made!

First, the stamp bin:

I keep most of my stamps in the bin loosely organized by type (alphabet, background, etc), but I took all of the little stamps that were getting lost and put them in a plastic bag. I made a little cheat sheet so that I wouldn't forget them:

Next, I cleared a LOT of little punched bits and other stuff from my cake plate, and reorganized it into something that serves as both storage and inspiration.

I now keep my washi tape collection on the cake plate--it looks pretty, and they're right at my fingertips! Although my collection seems to have grown quite a bit since I last took this photo......oops!

Also on the cake plate are my small collection of stick pins (I welcome any advice on what to do with those guys!), some favorite stamps, and my beloved Evalicious embellishments. I also have some other odds and ends, many from packaging, that inspire me.

And now, I'm about to show you my VERY FAVORITE part of my entire scraproom.

Before you look at the photo, a little background: Journaling spots are among my favorite embellishments ever. I used to have them stored in about twelve different places. Now, I decided that these little guys deserved their very own bin.

Many of my sets of journaling spots and diecuts are in the packages, but I keep loose pieces (including about 8 million October Afternoon journaling cards) in a little circular storage box I had lying around. I also have some of my very favorite Elle's Studio embellishments right up front where I can see them.

On a bad day, just looking at this bin makes me happy:)

I keep all of my tall embellishments in a vertical magazine holder like so:

I also realized that before, I was wasting quite a bit of space by using bins that were much shorter than the shelves. With arrangements like the one below, I'm trying to maximize the space more:

If you haven't been able to tell already, I am a HUGE flower fan, so I thought it would be fitting to give them their own little space.

I created a friendly little tag to attach to the bin so I wouldn't forget about it (if you haven't noticed I'm very forgetful. The major challenge in my organization is putting things where I won't forget about them!).

And a little peek inside:

My embellishments each have their own little bin to stay in:

I keep my loose chipboard in this box now--I love how it's messy and easy to maintain, but still contained and neat.

And finally, my stickers and rub-ons are in one of my smaller bins:

I absolutely love being in my room now.

While these changes were happening, however?

You get the idea.

Boy, am I glad those days are gone!

So tell me, what are YOUR favorite organizational secrets?

  1. This looks fantastic! I love the stamp bin. I need to do something like that! I've recently got back into using stamps, not just collecting them. Oh but my favorite... THE CAKE PLATE!!!! I am so on the lookout for one of those now!

  2. Beautifully organized! Thanks for letting us peek in.

  3. So many great ideas here, Keshet. I'm loving how you broke the chipboard off of the sheets to store loose in that bin - I'm inspired just looking at it that way. And your stamp cheat sheet - brilliant!

  4. Love your newly organized scrap space! No tips other than I love putting my ribbon, sorted by color, into clear plastic jars. Just a fun burst of pretty in the room and easy to see what you have.

  5. Sooo cute!!!! My scrap room is getting painted next week and then I will get some pics up, too!

  6. I have all my stickers on two huge cork boards in my scrapnook. This way I can see them all, they inspire me, they add colour, and define the space. That's my scrappy tip!
    Where are the thickers...?
As for the stickpins, I used some for the first time in a LO the other day, ones with stars at the top. The others I've given away to a friend who does shabby chic pages.
And I mailed off your prize today! It should get to you in a week or two. Please let me know when you get it.

  7. Ohhh this looks so nice ;)
I love your room, so bright and cheerful.
To answer your question, I love my stamping area I put together...but I keep putting things on the flat stamping area ;0

  8. Looks great! Hope your new space works better for you now. I just did the same to my room at the start of April. Really helps me to open packets & store similar stuff in little containers & boxes as I'm much more likely to use them :)

  9. Oh how I wish I could get mine in order!!!!
I love what you have done.
Question, I recognise the larger piece of furniture as from IKEA but the one next to it which looks as if it is holding paper, where is it from?...I think every scrapper needs one!

  10. I'm keeping my stick pins in a tea cup and it is working so well!

  11. This is great! Doesn't it feel wonderful? I love organizing & finding a place for everything. I store my items very smiliar to how you do. The stick pins I keep some loose ones on a cute pin cushion. Looks cute, yet very functional!! I have trouble figuring out what to do with the tape...I don't have a lot but I need a good storage place for it. do you keep your paper in those short bins? They look perfect for paper. I use the plastic craft drawers (found at target I think they are 12x12 or a little bigger). Thanks for showing us!

  12. Oh love what you have done to your room! Looks amazing. Thanks for sharing them! For stick pins - what about pin cushions ? Seen some super cute ones that people make with canning jars.

  13. Looks fabulous! I really don't have any secrets. But I do love my clip it ups. Really helps to keeep things so I can see them...therefore I use them!

  14. Love your new room! Looks like a great space to create in!

  15. This is great Keshet!! my journaling spots are all in a separate bin too!

  16. I have no secrets because Im not organized lol. I am so jealous of your space its awesome, someday I hope I will have a dedicated space.

  17. I plan to reorganize my scrap space in June. It's not a whole room (except in my dreams), but I think I have a way to squeeze some more and better storage out of my space. I can't wait.

  18. it looks so great, keshet! i store my loose chipboard the same way and love it too.

  19. Looks fantastic! Please come stay with me and reorganize my room. It is a wreck! Hope your pie turned out well!

  20. Love the re-organization! My fave tip is to keep scraps in different sized ziploc bags. And separate patterns from solids. Best thing I ever did years ago! :)

  21. my secret will be tricking you to come and help me organize. LOL.

  22. Love to look into your scraproom. I have the change to redecorate mine in a little while. Can't wait!

  23. great space. i love your cake plate. so cute. I want a 2 tier cake stand for my desk.. looking for the perfect one. I've been debating on rearranging my paper storage. right now, it's by manufacturer, but I'd like to find a way to do it so I can mix and match more.. i do love my clip it up. all my favorite things at a glance.

  24. I meant to add that there are lots of cute felted pincushions on etsy. would be a cute way to display them in your space.. =)

  25. Your organizers look so stylish and pretty ! I'm embarressed to admit my craft room looks like your before pic - stuff all over the table and floor. my little tip are these 15"x15" clear plastic folders for my papers
